Fashion Friday: Marchesa Bridal Spring 2016

Marchesa is what defines a modern-day princess for me. They never fail to impress with their ultra-sophisticated and feminine designs. There’s no doubt that they are one of the most influential labels in the wedding industry, and we can totally see why with their latest bridal collection. It’s got everything we could ever ask for — intricate embellishments, flowing fabrics, flattering silhouettes, and a generous sprinkling of pure magic.

Marchesa is available in Hong Kong through Central Weddings.

D.I.Y. Lai See Red Packet (with Free Printable)

What’s better than getting lai see? Getting lai see in pretty designs, of course! For your wedding day, why not make personalized red packets for your bridesmaids and groomsmen? It’s a thoughtful gesture that is both practical (can’t really mix up color-coded and personalized envelopes) and easy to make. You can also make some extra ones for your reception table and wow your guests. Let’s get on it!!

You will need:

  • A4 sized paper in different patterns and/or colors (medium thickness)

  • Glue stick, cutter, scissors, cutting mat, ruler, and a printer

1. Download and print this template onto the backside of your colored A4 sheets.

2. Cut the template out but cutting along the solid lines.

3. Cut a slit along the dotted lines with your cutter using your ruler as a guide.

4. Fold along the dashed lines starting with the small left side flap.

5. Fold and glue the right flap onto the left flap.

6. Fold and glue the bottom flap up.

7. Fold and insert the top flap into the slit.

Here’s what they should look like:

To personalize your lai sees, add some fun calligraphy using metallic pens.

Hope you have fun making your red packets, and please don’t forget to be generous! 🙂

Classic Sweetness

Any day is a lovely day for an engagement shoot, and your day is about to be made far lovelier with this beautiful spread of Winnie and Will. I am truly still floored by the sweetness and simplicity. I must say that each and every stunner by Joyel Lee is my favourite (though I’ll admit I returned to that gorgeous off-shoulder mermaid gown more than three times). We’ve been seeing a lot of Korean-style engagements such as this one lately, and with these dreamy photos by Plitvice, it’s easy to see why.

Fashion Friday: Basil Soda Couture Spring 2015

No word in the dictionary could evoke a stronger reaction from a fashionista’s heart than the word “couture”. With today’s featured collection, we completely understand why. Lebanese fashion legend Basil Soda’s Spring 2015 collection gives us awe-inspiring dresses that could double as museum pieces. I absolutely adore the Japanese-inspired structured cuts contrasted with intricate embroideries — strong, feminine, and fit for a warrior princess. Oh, be still, my beating heart!
