7 Ways To Make Wedding Planning More Delightful

When you first start planning your wedding, you’ll find yourself feeling extra excited and elated. But when the real work begins and you dive into all the details and many things you need to accomplish, you can end up feeling the weight of it all of a sudden. When this happens, wedding planning tends to become stressful, especially if you don’t pull yourself out of the constant anxiety.

Even if wedding planning is a very daunting task and the journey is never easy, it’s something that you can enjoy with your partner. The key to rising above everything weighing you down is by shifting your perspective and finding ways to make the journey something you can cherish instead of fear or worry about excessively. Here are some things you can try out.

(1) Break down your checklists and timelines.

If looking at the long list of things to do overwhelms you, try breaking it down in stages or milestones so that you can focus on a shorter list of things to do. This way, getting things done won’t be so daunting. Your wedding timeline is usually broken down already: 12 months before the wedding, 9 months before, 6 months before, and so on. You can take it from here.

(2) When you’ve decided on your wedding theme, stop looking around.

Brides tend to second guess themselves when they don’t stop looking around and comparing once the wedding theme is set. This can lead to unnecessary changes or time wasted on attempts to “just see” if this or what will work better, only to find out that the original plan is still THE plan. Once you’ve put your mood board in place, focus on that and only that.

(3) Always strive to stay true to your love and your interests.

Yes, it’s true that unique weddings turn into memorable ones, but sometimes couples get too caught up and stressed with trying to make their celebration extra special or unique by doing everything or anything they seems different or extraordinary. Did it ever occur to you that what can make your union extra memorable and unique is if it’s a true and genuine reflection of you, your love, and your shared interests? Don’t lose yourselves in trying to have an extra unique wedding.

(4) Balance out your wedding planning activities.

Wedding planning will really be overwhelming if you dive into it without allowing yourself enough breathing space. Balance out your wedding planning activities with other life activities. For example, if you plan to do wedding planning during the weekends, how about doing wedding planning on Saturday then enjoy Sunday. Or, if you want to do wedding planning on both days, you can do them every other weekend instead. Balancing things out on weekends will keep weekends fun and light.

(5) Delegate!

When the going gets tough… your entourage is there to save you! As early as possible, you can call a meeting with your bridesmaids and groomsmen to orient them about their tasks of the day. If you need help throughout the wedding planning journey, this is also the window of opportunity to ask for their help. Getting them to be with you every step of the way will also make the process more enjoyable because you can bond over the experience.

(6) Hire professionals to help you out.

Of course, hiring professionals who know the ins and outs of everything and anything wedding related will also lift a lot of responsibilities and worries from you. You may hire a full coordination wedding planner and stylist if you need help with the nitty gritty details of putting all the wedding elements together. Hiring experienced vendors–photographers, videographers, makeup artists, designers, and so on–will also be helpful as you can get tips and assistance from them as well.

(7) When things don’t go as planned, focus on the solution, not the problem.

More often than not, there will be challenges along the way and every challenge will throw you off track. This is another reason for stress and wedding planning worries! One way you can keep yourself on track is by focusing on how to solve the problem, not on the problem itself. Pool your entourage in if you need help with the solution or even ask help from your wedding vendors. Teamwork really does make the dream work and if you focus your energy on this positively, it will make a big difference.
