8 Tips for Moving Into Your New Home

Even if you’ve done it before, moving out is never an easy feat, more so if you’re preparing to move out while simultaneously planning your wedding. Here are some tips to keep in mind so that you seamlessly transition into your new home.

(1) Start Early

Make preparing for your move a priority. Don’t push it back until the last minute because we all know how that will go. If you have a wedding day countdown or timeline, add the moving details and plans to it.

(2) Declutter

It’s highly unlikely that you can take all your things with you, so it makes sense to declutter prior to moving. The common practice is that if you haven’t worn or used something in a year, it can go.

(3) Group Things

If you’re in the process of packing, it’s easier to group things before packing them. This way, it’s not as overwhelming as having to pack everything all at once. You can do it group by group until it’s done.

(4) Make a List

To avoid forgetting things or even losing things along the way, make a list of all the things you’re bringing. When you move and start unpacking, your list will be your guide.

(5) Move Little By Little

This is a little trick that can make moving easier. Remember the things you grouped then packed? You can also move them group by group, beginning with the things you don’t use on a daily basis. On the final moving day, you’ll have a lot less to bring over.

(6) Hire Professional Help

Don’t hesitate to hire professional help when moving, especially when it comes to big things like furniture. Or if you prefer not to move little by little and instead will do it in one go, it makes sense to hire professionals to get the work done faster for you.

(7) Leave Space for New Things

When bringing things over, we recommend avoiding fill in your home completely. Why? So you can buy new things after the wedding. Sometimes these new things are memorabilia for marriage milestones. Or if you like to travel, you can collect things from your travels and decorate your home with these special items.

(8) Collaborate and Communicate

Finally, keep your partner in the loop every step of the way. Your new home is for you and your partner so talking about all the moving out details and helping each other out from start to end is surely going to make the whole process easier and more worthwhile.
