A Peach-Themed Wedding at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

A hotel wedding can be a grand wedding, or an intimate one–it all depends on how you style and recreate your dream theme. What I especially love about today’s wedding, is how the couple transformed the ballroom in Grand Hyatt Hong Kong into a beautiful venue. The rose wall that served as the ceremony backdrop was gorgeous, and the red decorations at the reception were stunning! Patty and James tied the knot in perfect style indeed. They chose a peach palette to complement the red accents and they chose to take sweet photos in the outdoors. Everything was picture perfect and Hyvis Tong made sure to capture every moment for us to see and enjoy!

Chinese Wedding Traditions: How Much Cash Gift Should Be Given in a Hong Kong Wedding?

Part of the Chinese wedding traditions is the giving of the cash gift (Pin Jin) by the groom to the bride’s family. This is a groom’s gift to the bride’s parents and a symbolism of his gratitude to them for taking care of her, raising her, and extending their blessing for him to take her away and make her a part of his family. Today, we’re going to take a closer look into this tradition. In case you still haven’t spoken to your husband-to-be on the matter, reading this will be of much help to you. And if you already have, it’s good to find out how else you can work on the negotiations alongside both your families.

What amount should be given as cash gift?

There is no standard amount that is required or expected for the cash gift. Its amounts in Hong Kong Weddings can range from four to six digits. Common practice, however, is for both the bride’s and groom’s families to sit down and discuss the amount. This is the time for the bride and groom to also explain their plans after the wedding–they may want to buy property, start a family right away, or invest in a business. All these plans are taken into consideration when determining the final cash gift amount. When both families come to terms and are pleased with the negotiated amount, then the final price for the cash gift is set.

(1) Ensuring the Wedding Day Checklist is Complete

Of course you can do this on your own. But just to be 100% sure, ask another person to double (and even triple) check your wedding day checklist. You want to make sure you’ve packed everything you need for your Big Day!

(2) Ceremony Readings

Ask a family member or friend to do the readings during the ceremony. You can provide him or her a copy beforehand so that he or she can prepare accordingly.

(3) Confetti Throwing

Let your friends take care of throwing confetti when you exit the ceremony venue or upon entering the reception venue. This task is extra fun, they’ll love it.
