When it comes to the idea of minimalist weddings, the immediate thought is usually skewed towards minimalism in terms of the style and details–a simple wedding dress devoid of embellishments, minimal decorations, and clean, structured lines reigning over the overall theme. But did you know that you can apply minimalism to more than just your wedding theme and decorations?
When you hear the word “minimalist,” what comes to your mind? In concept, minimalism refers to removing any form of clutter or nonessential. As a movement, practice and a way of life, it means simplifying your day in and day out to what you truly need. It’s also about being very intentional with the choices you make, so that you free yourself from things that are actually more burdensome than helpful.
So, if you really want to have a minimalist wedding–one that is also free from unnecessary clutter and additional burdensome details–here are some things you can do. Minimalist styling is one thing; these added tips will take your minimalist wedding to the next level.
(1) Make it more intimate.
While we have nothing against big weddings, a smaller guest count will make your wedding feel more intimate. You’ll also get to spend more time with people in comparison to a very large wedding where you can’t spare time to talk to everyone.

(3) Consider an unadorned venue.
If your wedding venue is already beautiful on its own, how about keeping it that way? This possible especially for garden wedding venues that provide lush natural greenery. Maybe a simple arch will do. Or if you have an overlooking view, take it as your backdrop.

(4) Simplify the programme.
We mentioned cutting the guest list to be able to spend more time with everyone. Cutting down on the wedding programme will also free up your time and hence, allow you to mingle more. Guests usually leave right after the programme, especially if it runs too long. If you keep it short, you’ll catch more people before they leave.

While a simple and sleek wedding dress design confirms with the idea of minimalism, let’s also consider function. (7) Skip the cake layers.
For towering cakes, the upper layers are usually no longer edible because they will be too heavy and the bottom layer will cave in. If that is the case, a single layer cake is more than enough to sweeten your big day.
