1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

We are a boutique stationery company based in London, UK, but we serve a wide range of clients all over the world! I head a small team of designers and we work very close with wedding couples on their stationery, and offer a range of ready-to-go designs as well as a custom service. Our everyday and gifts ranges are can be found in stores across the UK and Europe, including iconic department stores such as Selfridges and Liberty.

2. How did you start BerinMade?

I started with a small collection of mix and match wedding stationery back in 2012 with lots of our now-signature floral swatches and colourful patterns, after quitting my job at an art auction house. I was lucky at the time as my friend and photographer Marianne Taylor was doing an inspiration shoot and needed some stationery, so I sent her some of my samples. The photos eventually were printed in a national magazine which gave us a brilliant head start on our launch.

3. What makes your product unique?

Our illustrated florals and lettering are a really popular combination that brides love, and has become part of our signature. I also think that our love of colour and pattern really shine through our collections. Classically, brides tend to shy away from brighter colours or bold patterns as weddings traditionally have a softer look, but these days couples love to convey their personality through fun colour combinations and meaningful details, and that is definitely what we’re about too.

4. What is your favorite part of the job?

Ben and I co-direct our company and we love that we can steer it in whatever direct we love and best suit ours lifestyle and goals. I also love dipping my toes in everything—concepting a new collection, styling shoots, implement business strategies and chatting with clients. I love the variety and that no two days are the same.

5. Can you tell us about your favorite collection in your catalog?

I love our new collection of tropical designs—tropical motifs are so on-trend at the moment so I think they work best with destination weddings to beautiful exotic locations. Really, I just love any excuse to think about going on holiday!

6. Where do you find inspiration?

Fashion for colours, interior design for patterns, and vintage markets for textures, shapes and concept. But it can come from anywhere!

7. What trends do you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?

I love the more understated metallics such as rusted copper, or pewter because they give off a luxe vibe without being too decadent or in-your-face. I love geometrics done in a clever way too.

8. Do you have any advice for couples who are in the midst of planning their wedding?

I have so much, if only I could write a book about it! But my best advice would be that you only get to do it once—so make it about you, your future spouse and celebrating that love between you two. Your wedding day will be beautiful but marriage will be even better, so focus your energy on that. The rest will take care of itself.
